Bayer MaterialScience  produces and develops high-performance materials which are used in all aspects of daily life. In addition to improving efficiency, the company aims primarily at technological innovations and creative system solutions. Our most important customers are the automotive and construction industry, the electrical/electronics sector, manufacturers of sports and leisure articles, packaging and medical-technical products, etc.
 
Bayer MaterialScience operates three business units:
 
PCS - Polycarbonates: these versatile and high-performance plastics are used for the production of automotive parts, optical data carriers such as CDs and DVDs, medical apparatus and countless everyday consumer articles. They are also used for the roofing of stadium stands and railway stations and the transparent outer walls of conservatories and carports. Polycarbonates are an invention of Bayer.
 
PUR - Polyurethanes : these flexible plastics are used in a variety of products ranging from mattresses, car-seat upholstery and the insulation of refrigerators to car bumpers and shoe soles. Polyurethanes are an invention of Bayer.
 
CAS - Coatings Adhesives Sealants / Raw materials for sealants : Sealing systems made from polyurethane materials protect the base against the impact of weather and chemicals, and are notable for their good mechanical properties.
 
BMS is represented in Belgium by two production units , namely  Bayer Antwerpen NV  in the Antwerp Port, and Bayer Sheet Europe NV  in Tielt.
