Théo – Marketing Service Manager

Open for a new opportunity?

One day, I was contacted for the vacancy of Product Manager - Levitra at Bayer. In the past, I had worked for a competitor in a similar position; the job was therefore not a step into the unknown for me. What was important for me was that I should get enough freedom in the position to do my job, and naturally I very much wanted to become Product Manager of a product which I could fully endorse.

At Bayer, I found an environment which allowed me to be creative, to develop and launch my own initiatives. It is a company which offers me the necessary support to realise my ideas and the opportunity to keep in touch with what is going on in the target groups. For me, that means that the Company can also rely on my complete dedication and motivation. Moreover, I get to work with fun-loving and professional colleagues. For instance, we had a lot of fun working together on developing the 'Fit for Sex' promotion for a special campaign around Levitra. We even managed to convince Jerry Hall to be the face of our campaign. Together with 500 colleagues and friends, we ran the 20 km of Brussels. A unique experience!

A day in the life of...

As Product Manager, you are the central figure for everything concerning the product. That goes from drawing up the marketing plan, both the analysis as well as development of the promotions and communications, to the development of the sales tools and the projects for boosting the sale of the product. For this, you are constantly in contact with the sales people, Business Unit Managers, customers, and the international managers for the product within Bayer. Therefore, Product Managers need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills and need to be able to think analytically and strategically. In addition, they must be enthusiastic promoters of their product.

Continuous improvement

In view of my many years of experience in sales & training, I was asked about two years ago to expand the internal service provider Marketing Services. The aim of this service provider is to support the marketing of the product in terms of graphic design, the organisation of events, conferences & other activities. The ‘Sales Force Excellence’ project is also a part of this. The contact with the customer is central and must be of high quality. A continuous and exciting challenge therefore, where I can use my creativity and experience.
